“The extensive team European Cup experience helped.” Bate did what he had to do. Team history Who is the shareholder of FC Bate

Came in the debut season in group tournament Champions League. Borisov became the first Belarusian team to play at this level and achieve

first points. Actually, since then, other clubs in the country have still not achieved this achievement. In qualifying, which only recently topped Victor Goncharenko, knocked out Anderlecht and Levski. The team got a killer group - Real, Zenit and Juventus. The Belarusians managed not to lose face - they gave the fight to Real, brought glasses from St. Petersburg, and . The group's first home match against the Italians at the end of September was almost a copy of today's meeting with Roma. Borisovites started quickly. Less than 20 minutes had passed, and the hosts had already taken the lead. Sergey Krivets took advantage of the transfer Igor Stasevich Well, he entered the penalty area and easily beat Manninger. And 6 minutes later, the eternal Stasevich, who still scores in the Champions League 7 years later, distinguished himself by winning the fight against no one but Nedved. Alas, then the two-goal margin was not enough - the Turin team was able to win back. This time Stasevich and Co. upset Roma three times and won 3:2. Completing the theme of 2008, the Borisov team did not lose in Turin thanks to the excellent play of Veremko, who took a penalty from Giovinco.

– Milan - 1:1

In 2011 he returned to the Champions League. This time they managed to score fewer points – 2. But still, Goncharenko’s charges spoiled the blood of the giants. At home they managed to win back in the match with Milan, which was then quite a star club: they had not yet retired Nesta and Seedorf, haven't moved to Paris yet Silva and Ibrahimovi h, the Rossoneri played Robinho and Boateng. This whole dashing company scored only one goal in Minsk, to which Bressan responded from the penalty spot. And then, on a whim, he could snatch victory.

“Lille” - – 1:3

After another missed season, BATE returned even stronger and in the first round won the first victory in its history in the group stage of the Champions League. After the starting onslaught of the hosts, Alexander Volodko hit the top corner with a cool long-range shot. Well, while the French were moving away from this blow, BATE carried out another devastating three-on-three counterattack, and Vitaly Rodionov closed in Pavlov’s cross. Well, then Olekhnovich sent Lille into a hopeless knockout - 3:0. Familiar story, right? For the sake of order, the French resisted and even scored a goal of prestige, but no more - the Belarusian club started extremely well.

BATE – Bayern - 3:1

And again the second round, home match, still Minsk - new stadium in Borisov was opened later - and again a huge sensation, which still remains the main one in BATE's European Cup career. Along with Arsenal, the Belarusian team was the only one that managed to beat Bayern in the Champions League in that incredible season. The Munich team eventually won the main trophy. But after that it was impossible to imagine. Polyakov received the ball in the penalty area without interference, passed it further to Volodko, who missed the shot, but made a successful pass to Pavlov, who shot Neuer at point-blank range. This time, BATE moved away from the usual scenario of their sensations - betting on a quick advantage of several goals. And go kill them with the Heynckes machine! The outcome of this meeting had to wait until the last ten minutes. Rodionov beat Olekhnovich and sent it into the corner with no chance for Neuer. Bayern managed to win one goal back, but instead of the final assault they received a devastating counterattack, which was completed by Bressan. 3:1 – and with two victories the Belarusians became the leaders of the group. Alas, they failed to build on their success - having lost all 4 remaining matches, the Borisov team only qualified for the Europa League. But they left a memory of themselves.

BATE – Roma – 3:2

Well . This time not by Goncharenko, but under the leadership Alexandra Ermakovich yes, but with the participation of some players who still remember the team’s first great successes in the Champions League. Already in the first minutes, the brilliant attack should have scored Volodko and Gordeychuk, and in the end the ageless Stasevich distinguished himself. Then it was time Mladenovic– he outwitted Szczesny, throwing the ball into the goal from 35 meters until the goalkeeper jumped out somewhere, and then completed the flank serve. As a result, 3:0 at the break - not just a sensation in the style of BATE, but a complete beating of the Romans. In the second half, the Belarusian team, despite the rich experience of sensational “bites” of the favorites, was still afraid of its agility, and Gervinho with Torosidis gave the hosts a nervous ending. But it was still not possible for Roma to win back the third goal - the experience of a draw with Juventus in BATE's first home match in the Champions League group 7 years ago, even if on a subconscious level, made itself felt. And for the first time, BATE's sensation happened in front of the Borisovites, who filled the new local arena.

BATE General Secretary and Pressball columnist Andrei Vashkevich shared his opinion about the failed transfer to the Borisov club of the six-time best football player Belarus Alexander Gleb, who after the draw for the group stage of the Europa League, but was refused.

- Let's be honest. For me, Dirk Kuyt set the career benchmark last year. In his last match in professional football he scored three times for Feyenoord at De Cuyp - for the club that he considered the main thing in his career, and at the stadium that he considered the main thing in his career - and brought the Rotterdamers their first Dutch champion title in 18 years.

Kuyt worked a lot for this beautiful point. He returned to Rotterdam early and had a not very successful 2015/16 season (21 points behind PSV and 19 points behind Ajax). And he knew that in the next one everything would be decided. Either he will leave as a superhero, or he will simply leave. Nobody knew the future. Feyenoord were not champions for a long time, and there was nothing particularly hinting that they would become champions now.

In the 2016/17 season, Kuyt played unevenly, lost his place in the lineup, played either on the right or “under the attackers,” but in the end he endured, together with a young, unpredictable team, to the long-awaited title.

Beautiful stories are written this way - honestly, in the “no over-saving” mode. No guarantees of success and no tactical waiting.

Some are now trying to tell us that Sasha Gleb’s farewell could also be a “beautiful story” if BATE had signed him again for the European Cup this fall.

But let's be honest: the story would be beautiful if this winter Sasha firmly decided to finish in BATE, returned to Borisov finally, for his farewell season, scored, made his way into the group - in a word, took risks, played without any guarantees for his farewell in London . Just as Kuyt had no guarantees of a hat-trick in the last match of his career.

But things happen differently here.

Sasha has not played since May 1st. I had a pretty good time. There was nothing to be heard about a “beautiful end to a career.” And suddenly they pull the piece of paper out of the ball - and away we go.

I’m wondering: would there have been all this moaning about the “beautiful story” if BATE’s first basket had won “Victoria” from Pilsen? Or Villarreal? Or Salzburg? And would Gleb be just as eager to play with these absolutely respected clubs?

And if not, then how does he differ from those who are usually called glories, and who are now trying to tell everyone as convincingly as possible who they are from childhood?

Ritually waving to the Emirates stands, hugging Wenger in front of the cameras, giving an interview to uefa.com about how dreams come true, being ready to “play for free” and go out for fifteen minutes - and that’s what you call beauty?

Let's be honest: when saying goodbye, waving to these stands, hugging this Wenger and giving these interviews, Sasha Gleb could have been in a completely different status. But once he made a different decision. An attempt now to wave and hug during the years he spent away from London is doomed to be a toy.

Beautiful stories are written in the margins, including training ones, and not by calling friends and bosses after a successful draw. There is hardly any beauty to be found in trying to log into the game from the last save and play a perfect match.

Beauty is Kuyt. But our story is about something else.

BATE lost millions of euros. How much did the defeat from Rosenborg cost the Borisov team?

Just math.

BATE does not have a powerful sponsor. The financial well-being of the club is directly proportional to the amount earned in European competitions. This money, which came after the breakthrough in 2008, is what keeps the Borisov team's long-term hegemony in the championship. This muddled thought will surprise no one.

But it seems that not everyone is fully aware of what the loss to Rosenborg actually cost BATE in terms of money. It seems that European Cup life continues in the Europa League: push yourself against Sarajevo, push yourself against whoever ends up in the playoff round - and then it’s already autumn, the group, you can make money.

Can. But not the fantastic money that circulates in the Champions League.

The ideal option is to reach the Champions League group. This is 15.25 million euros in one fell swoop, which would cover all of BATE’s needs and create a safety cushion for the next year or two. Despite the fact that in the group itself you can earn good money for victories (2.7 million euros) and draws (0.9 million euros). Plus, regardless of the results, Borisov residents would receive several million more euros from the marketing pool (the amount depends on the country’s TV market) and for rating among 32 participants group round(calculated over the last 10 years in European competition; the minimum share that a club can count on is €1.108 million).

It's beautiful, but difficult. BATE has not played in the Champions League group since 2015.

The tangible goal is the Champions League knockout round. This year, for example, to complete it it was necessary to go through Rosenborg and then Maribor. It’s not easy, but who can say that the task is prohibitive? In Trondheim, until the 73rd minute, even with a weak game, it was BATE who advanced further. If you have 17 minutes left to hold out, there is definitely a chance.

Reaching the playoff round of the Champions League, losing there and being relegated straight to the Europa League group is the financial dream of a middle-peasant club. Relegation from the Champions League playoff round - 5 million euros, getting into the Europa League group - another 2.92 million euros. 7.92 million euros is a guarantee that there will be no problems with the budget for the next season. Plus, again, you can get it through wins, draws, the marketing pool and payments based on the rating among the 32 participants in the LE group stage. We will return to this later.

For now let's fix: pass Rosenborg and Maribor = 7.92 million euros at once.

Champions League and Europa League: feel the difference

Now let’s consider what the Borisov residents are really aiming for this European season. There are two possible scenarios.

First: BATE will not qualify for the LE group. In this case, the “yellow-blues” will only receive solidarity payments. At this point, Borisov residents are due:

260 thousand euros - as the national champion;
280 thousand euros - for participation in the 1st qualifying round of the Champions League;
380 thousand euros - for participation in the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League;
280 thousand euros - for participation in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League.

Total - 1.2 million euros. If BATE gets past Sarajevo but loses in the LE playoff round, that’s another 300 thousand euros.

That is, Having not reached the group, Borisov residents can only count on 1.5 million euros. Obviously, this is not enough to feel financially comfortable.

If the Belarusian champion defeats both Sarajevo and their opponent in the playoff round, then the second scenario will occur: BATE advances to the LE group.

In this case BATE will receive 2.92 million euros for reaching the LE group, and he will also retain payments for the qualifying rounds of the Champions League and Europa League, excluding the playoff round, - 940 thousand euros. That is, a total of 3.86 million euros.

In addition, the LE group has the same bonuses as the Champions League group, but the amounts are much smaller:

Victory in the Champions League group - 570 thousand euros (versus 2.7 million in the Champions League);
draw in the Champions League group - 190 thousand euros (versus 0.9 million in the Champions League);
payments based on rating among 32 participants in the group round - the cost of one share is 71,430 euros (versus 1.108 million euros in the Champions League: it is better to be last in rating in the Champions League group than to have 15 shares among the participants of the Champions League);
marketing pool - depends on the share of the country’s TV market, but in the League of Legends they throw 168 million euros into the common pot, and in the Champions League - 292 million (BATE is not counting on a serious piece here in any case).

BATE has already proven that it is competitive in the Europa League and can reach the playoffs. Therefore, you also need to keep the following prize money in mind:

Exit from the group from 1st place - 1 million euros;
leaving the group from 2nd place - 0.5 million euros;
participation in the 1/16 finals of the European Championship - 0.5 million euros.

And now we are counting on the most optimistic development of events: BATE heroically reaches the Europa League group (2.92 million euros), destroys everyone there, winning, say, four victories (2.28 million euros) and taking first place in the group (1 million euros) , eliminated in the 1/16 finals (0.5 million euros). Plus, the club retains 0.94 million euros earned in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League and Europa League. In total, this is 7.64 million euros - less than the 7.92 that BATE would have received if they reached the knockout round of the Champions League and did nothing else! Well, maybe in the end it would have come out a little more due to payments for the rating and from the marketing pool. But this would not significantly change the amount of Borisov’s prize money.

Total: BATE dropped out of the Champions League, and now the Borisov team needs to give their best European Cup result in history in order to get closer to the money they would have received if they had beaten Rosenborg and Maribor. And if they don’t give it out, it will hit the club’s budget hard.

This is the price of defeat in Trondheim.

BATE is like a powerful source of energy that has already exhausted its fuel and gone out, we just don’t see it, the light has not yet reached us.

It’s just that someone has squeezed finances for transfers.

It’s clear that they were insuring themselves - they say a lot of players left and you might not get a result in a rush... but here is the result...

p.s. basically nothing is lost. there is a cushion (in principle, nothing out of 10 million has been spent, and the budget floats around 5-6 million), and if you approach the next season wisely, you can repeat last year’s result..

BATE is like a powerful source of energy that has already exhausted its fuel and gone out, we just don’t see it, the light has not yet reached us.

The most successful club in the country is owned by a man you've never heard of.

European top clubs do not hide the names of their owners. Anyone who is interested knows that Manchester United is owned by American businessman Malcolm Glazer, and Chelsea is owned by Russian Roman Abramovich. In Belarus it is not customary to disclose such information. It is all the more interesting to find out who owns BATE, the most titled and financially successful domestic club, which has earned 73.2 million euros in European competition over the past nine years.

There is no information in open sources about the owner/owners of BATE. Only a few dozen partners are listed on the club’s official website. Among them are Belgosstrakh, Euroopt, BATE Trading House, Borisov Medical Preparations Plant, Borisov District Executive Committee and other organizations.

For most Belarusians, the club is associated with Anatoly Kapsky, who was at the forefront of the revival of BATE. Until 1996, Borisov was represented in Belarusian football by another team - Fomalhaut. However, she withdrew from the first league championship due to financial problems. Then an employee of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kulinkovich, and businessman Viktor Pavlovets came up with the idea of bringing back to life another city team - BATE, which from 1973 to 1984 became the champion of the BSSR three times. With this initiative, they went to the director of the plant of the same name, Nikolai Busel, and before that they persuaded the 30-year-old general director of the Stalker company, Anatoly Kapsky, to become an investor in the project.

– It was not me who put forward the idea of creating a new club. But when they approached me with an offer to participate in this project, I agreed. At the same time, I set a condition - I must not only finance the project, but also receive complete and reliable information on how the funds are spent and what is the output,– Kapsky recalled. – Approximately three-quarters of the costs were covered by the Stalker company. The BATE plant did not stand aside either, which provided the team with a place to live on the territory of the factory dispensary, provided a bus, organized a food system for the football players, and subsequently built training fields in Dudinka.

More than half of the income of the Stalker company, which specialized in the sale of trucks and other equipment, went to the maintenance of the club. But not all of Kapsky’s business partners liked this.

– I had a moment when my partners in “Stalker”, whom I myself made such in 1996 - I invited them to work and gave them shares in the business - came to me during a difficult period of my life and said: “Why are we all going to football?” are we spending? We need to think about ourselves,”- said the businessman. – The question was that within a few days I had to buy out the share of these people, getting into debt. Then, however, the situation changed. One person remembered how it all began, that they could simply work as hired managers, and after a day or two he took a step back. And this was enough, based on shares.

Kapsky owned a significant share of the club's authorized capital until it was reorganized into a commercial structure. By that time, the manager had already been working as the general director of the BATE plant for several years. According to the law, civil servants in our country are not allowed to engage in business. Having given up his share, Kapsky continued to lead the club as chairman of the board.

– Football has never been a business for me. Therefore, no one traded with these shares. When the time came to go to another job, my share was transferred to Alexander Zakharchenko (deputy chairman of the club’s board), then to another person. By the way, even when we earn a million or ten million in the League as a champion, he does not receive any bonuses for this. This is our friend, in love with football,- said the manager.

We managed to find out the name of the stranger who owns the largest share in the authorized capital of the club and is formally its owner. True, he has two more companions.

Natalia Marchenko, 10% of the authorized capital

The famous Belarusian basketball player gave up her professional career in 2012 and quickly found herself outside of sports. At that time, the wife of BATE coach Alexei Baga (the couple divorced several years ago) and the godmother of the daughter of the former goalkeeper coach of the main team, Alexander Fedorovich, headed the club’s development department. A bachelor's degree in business management received from the American University Fairleigh Dickinson in 2004 (Marchenko was inducted into the school's sports hall of fame) and a personal invitation from Anatoly Kapsky helped her to take this position.

At BATE, Natalya is responsible for developing the commercial component of the Borisov Arena, attracting spectators to home matches and creating ticket programs. There were questions for her about working with fans last year. Natalya noted that the average attendance of about 5,000 people was not the figure the club was counting on.

– Look, Natasha Marchenko, head of the development department, gave birth in May 2015 and is raising a son. And since September 1 it has been working. We asked her to come to work. Her deputy, Alesya Katerinich (Kapskaya), gave birth in early October. And although I could no longer spend my entire working day in the office, I worked on the ticket program until the end of August. And all because it is difficult to find specialists who would become an equivalent replacement, said KAA. – These two girls are very efficient and effective. Along with the general director of the club, Mikhail Dementsevich, they contributed a lot of their knowledge and skills. Apart from them, no one has worked so thoroughly on our new stadium. Although we have a lot of other guys working at the club.

Mikhail Dementsevich, 15% of the authorized capital

The native Borisov resident has been working at BATE since 2002. As a child, Dementsevich did not play football, but canoeing. Graduated from the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute in 1992. After ten years, he gave it to Borisov construction trust No. 21, where he worked his way up from foreman to chief engineer.

In the Kapsky project, the manager worked as both the executive director and the director of the city stadium. For the last eight years he has been working as General Director. All this time, Dementsevich was in the shadow of the chairman of the board. Thanks to his excellent qualities as a performer (he is responsible for all administrative issues in the club and has represented it at meetings of the ABFF executive committee since 2014), he has earned the trust of the chairman of the board.

– Dementsevich is an excellent executive director. He perfectly represents and implements my will as chairman of the board. This person understands everything perfectly and feels the situation perfectly. But it’s psychologically difficult for him to send me far, far away,” said Kapsky.

Sergey Ivashchenko, 75% of the authorized capital

If people interested in domestic sports have heard something about Marchenko and Dementsevich, then nothing is known about Sergei Ivashchenko. The owner of the largest share of the authorized capital of BATE is not registered in any of the social networks. Some club employees had not even heard his last name, and people involved in the management of BATE flatly refused to share any information. It was not possible to meet the main owner of the most successful club in Belarus at the stadiums. Ivashchenko is rarely selected for Borisov games, especially away games.

The search revealed that Sergei Grigoryevich Ivashchenko runs the Borisov company Sintal-Bel, which carries out trade and procurement activities. The organization deals with components for the automotive industry, tomato paste, juice concentrates and permanent magnets. It is based in Borisov at 16 Revolution Avenue, in office 22. In the same building, only in office No. 7, the office of the BATE football team is located.

Attempts to reach Ivashchenko through the organization’s telephone numbers were unsuccessful. Having heard that we needed to contact the boss, the workers forwarded the call to each other. In the end, it turned out that the director was not there, and it was unknown when he would be.

We managed to get several numbers registered to Sergei Grigorievich Ivashchenko. One of them is used by a woman who has nothing to do with football. Another is the largest founder of BATE:

– Hello, have I reached Sergei Grigorievich, director of the Sintal-Bel company?

– Yes, but this company no longer exists. What did you want?

– Do an interview with you. After all, you own 75% of the authorized capital of BATE, but no one has heard of you.

– Sorry, but it’s problematic to do this, I’m in Russia. In general, I think this makes no sense. There are Anatoly Kapsky and Mikhail Dementsevich, who run the club. They are in plain sight. Why would anyone know about me?

- Why? This is very interesting.

- I don't think so.

– If it’s not a secret, what do you do in Russia?

- Working. More over yourself.

– Are you no longer working at Sintal-Bel?

– This company no longer exists. It became part of the Sintal Pack company, which produces corrugated cardboard packaging.

– Have you known Anatoly Kapsky for a long time?

- Very. We met and became friends back in the 90s, when Anatoly Anatolyevich worked at one of the state enterprises. Borisov is a small town where everyone knows each other, so we quickly found contact with him.

– It turns out that your friendship began from the time of “Stalker”?

– I have nothing to do with Stalker, I was involved in other production. Football is my great hobby. Unfortunately or fortunately, I myself have never been involved in this sport professionally, but I began to worry about BATE from the moment the club was founded.

Team history

BATE is an abbreviation for Borisov Automotive and Tractor Electrical Equipment Plant. It was under him that the club of the same name was created in 1973. Having managed to leave the second division in just a year major league Republican championship, BATE managed to become the champion of the BSSR on the first try, winning fifteen matches out of eighteen in the season.

The Borisov club quickly became one of the strongest clubs, representing Belarus, and in 1976 it managed to win the championship and Cup of the Belarusian SSR. BATE was doing just fine, but in 1981 the team was disbanded - the plant no longer had the funds or ability to support the team. But in the USSR, as we know, there were no sponsors. And only in 1996, an initiative group led by Anatoly Kapsky decided to revive the team. The start of the renewed team was again very successful. Having quickly overcome the threshold of the second league, BATE achieved the championship title already in 1999. Then the Borisov team included Alexander Gleb, Vitaly Kutuzov, as well as the current mentor Viktor Goncharenko.

A year later, BATE lost ground somewhat, becoming the silver champion. However, the first European Cup successes are associated with the Borisov team Belarusian football. In particular, in 2002, the “yellow-blues” showed themselves successfully in the Intertoto Cup, beating Munich 1860, and then almost defeating Bologna. The 2005 season was one of the most difficult in the team's history. Her permanent coach Yuri Puntus left BATE, whose place was taken by Kriushenko. This reshuffle did not have the most rosy effect on the Borisov team, and at the end of the season, BATE for the first time in modern history was left without championship medals. However, just a year later, BATE managed to please its fans with a golden double, winning the national cup and championship. In the 2007 season, BATE reached the third round of the Champions League, where they lost their place in group stage Romanian "Steaua".

In 2008, club legend Viktor Goncharenko became the head coach of BATE, who successfully played for the team for four seasons. And it was his arrival that was marked by a historic advance to the group stage of the Champions League. On the way to this achievement, BATE coped with the Icelandic “Valur”, the Belgian “Anderlecht”, as well as the Bulgarian “Levski”! In the group stage, BATE's opponents were the biggies of European football - Real Madrid, Juventus and Zenit. And already in the match against the Turin team, the Belarusians managed to create a sensation, playing a draw with the Italians. Despite the fact that BATE took last place in the group, the result of this match was considered successful. In the same season, the Borisov team regained the championship title.

In 2011, BATE managed to reach the group stage of the Champions League for the second time in its history. This time the rivals of the Belarusian team were Barcelona, Milan and Victoria from Pilsen. Of course, the most significant match was the draw with Milan, but this time the Belarusians ended up finishing four in the group. A year later, Goncharenko’s team again won the right to play in the Champions League group. Lille, Bayern and Valencia became BATE's rivals. And this time the Belarusians will definitely try to compete for at least third place.
