Tokens - badges of honor - are awarded to the winners of city, regional, republican and all-Union competitions for 1-3 places. For a long time I promised to write nominations for athletes - some comic, some serious ... Today I finally got it.
I have a particular fondness for nominations for titles or phrases from songs - it is often said there in such a way that you can’t say it better. So I literally shook every line of sports song lyrics I could find line by line. Most of them are from Soviet times, but there are also modern ones. In total - more than a hundred, stopped counting on the 105th))
What was especially pleasing was that I found about sports, acquaintances, but forgotten. So I highly recommend using his recordings during your sports awards - in my opinion, he has no equal in terms of wit of texts.

On July 28, the Russian national football team had a busy but pleasant day. The players and coaching staff of the team were honored and awarded following the results of the home World Cup. And, despite the fact that almost everyone recognizes reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament as a very serious achievement, if not outstanding, the award caused a storm of emotions and a split in the sports community. Many believe that the players were given too much.
The stumbling block was the title of Honored Master of Sports - the pinnacle of recognition of an athlete's merits in the hierarchy of sports titles in Russia. This title is usually given to champions Olympic Games and world championships, winners of the World and European Cups, as well as other competitions of the highest level. But only winners and champions!
However, the players, with all due respect to their game and the result, did not even come close to the title of world champions. So what did they do to deserve the “deserved”?
The famous Russian volleyball player was the first to be outraged about this Ekaterina Gamova, two-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist.
“I assumed it would, unfortunately. There is a strangely different attitude towards the achievements of athletes in our country. Someone needs to win the World Championship or become an Olympic medalist in order to get the title of ZMS, and someone gets it only for reaching the ¼ finals! I’m sorry that the title of ZMS is being depreciated, ”the athlete wrote on her page in, adding that she has no complaints about football players, but only sports leaders.
Agreed with Gamova and her colleagues in the sport.
— I would like to support Ekaterina Gamova. I agree with her opinion, if they had not made it to the quarterfinals, then you would have just ***ed them from head to toe. They are great, of course, but they didn’t play enough at ZMS, - said the European champion Ilya Vlasov.
- Guys-footballers have nothing to do with it, I will repeat these words again! They played well! Jumped over your head! Well done! But! Everything has its price and measure! Yes, this badge does not really give any privileges in life, but this is the highest award in sports, and I'm sure every athlete in Russia dreams of receiving it! And the highest award cannot be for the 8th place ... The ZMS badge has lost its value for me personally ...
But not only representatives of the volleyball world spoke out against awarding the title of Honored Masters of Sports to football players. The wave of indignation was picked up by representatives of other sports. Among them is a handball coach Evgeny Trefilov:
We also have other awards. Why do I need to give ZMS? If you won this tournament, then it would be necessary.

— I agree with Gamova, because she knows what she is saying, and I know what I am saying. Of course, the performance of football players is a great joy, but this has nothing to do with the awarding of the title of Honored Masters of Sports.

- Gamova's words? I am also an Olympic champion, and I also do not have orders. I cannot be surprised at this.
What is there! Even the ex-football player of the Russian national team Evgeny Aldonin partly supported Gamow:
- The situation is that for us the quarter-final of the World Cup is a great achievement. Therefore, on the one hand, I agree with Gamova, and on the other, I perfectly understand the level of competition in football. I partly share Ekaterina's indignation, but she emphasizes that she did not say this to the guys, but to our leaders. Therefore, you need to pay attention to this.
The title of Honored Master of Sports has always been the pinnacle for Russian athlete. It meant that the athlete in his career has already reached a certain height, at least once he became the best in the world and Europe and knows what a real victory is. Although, it is worth recognizing that there have always been exceptions to the rule: the titles of Honored Masters of Sports in the days of the USSR were given to both partisans and astronauts, and even just as a gift for the anniversary - there was such a thing.
You can love or dislike the Russian team, admire its progress to the quarterfinals of the World Cup, or lament the fact that the team failed to achieve more. But be that as it may, the title of ZMS was awarded to the players according to the law. How so? And very simple!
In the current version of the regulation on the award of sports titles, everything is written:
- As an exception, the honorary sports title "Honored Master of Sports of Russia" can be awarded to athletes for an outstanding contribution to raising the authority Russian Federation and Russian sports at the international level, showing exceptional courage and skill.
One can argue endlessly about the concepts of "courage" and "skill", but the fact remains: the title of ZMS can be obtained without taking first place, but simply by showing some outstanding result. Whether it's reaching the quarterfinals of the World Cup or third place in the European Championship - in 2008, the players also received high titles.
The only question is why in other sports such concessions are not made and, moreover, they often forget about champions. And only in football, a place outside the top three is marked at the highest state level. It turns out that football players are better than all other athletes?
If better, they are worthy of the titles assigned to them.
If not, then the titles of Honored Masters of Sports are too much.
In addition to the titles of Honored Masters of Sports, some have received other awards. Main coach Russian team Stanislav Cherchesov awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky, team captain Igor Akinfeev and protector Sergei Ignashevich- Orders of Honor. Other players and coaches received honorary diplomas from the head of state.
On Saturday, July 28, 2018, the players of the Russian national team received awards at the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Kremlin. After that, many famous athletes said that the players did not deserve such high titles.
“The performance of the football players is a great joy, but this has nothing to do with the awarding of the title of ZMS,” Tarasova said. “There are clear criteria: you need to be a world, European or Olympic champion.”

In a popular Soviet film, one of the characters utters a very symbolic phrase: “Now even football match does not do without political resonance! Especially the whole World Cup, which the country held with such success on an emotional upsurge. Here, even our team did not fail. And the players, who were contemptuously called "millionaires in shorts", gathered and in some way jumped above their heads.
Even in hot pursuit of the general tenderness about our reaching the quarterfinals, many recalled that the great Beskov was removed from the leadership of the USSR national team for losing the final of the 1964 European Championship. Still would! After all, we arrived as winners of the last European Cup. And for the silver medals in 1972, when our team lost in the final to the Germans 0:3, only the lazy did not criticize the players who had so lowered the prestige of the country.
But those victories are in the Soviet past, and the country needs new heroes. Especially now, when social tension has increased so much, the ratings of politicians are declining, and evil tongues have generally announced the World Cup holiday as a cover for unpopular reforms.

So, let's face it, yesterday's awarding of the players with orders, certificates of honor and the title of "Honored Master of Sports" is an attempt to somehow preserve the vivid emotions born of the tournament. Moreover, in recent months, with bright successes, breakthrough events, things were not very successful. Moreover, the mood of the fans is changeable. Yesterday, the same speaker Dziuba was called nothing more than a “tree”. Today he is on horseback, but how will he play tomorrow? Will the newly minted ZMS be booed?
But something quite unexpected happened. Rewarding outside the established regulations offended many of our famous athletes. The legendary volleyball player Gamova, the top tennis player Kafelnikov, has already expressed surprise at such quarter-finalists, and the reference coach of handball players Trefilov considered such an award an attempt to distinguish football from other sports. After all, the title of Honored Master of Sports was usually received only by the winners, less often, as an exception, by the winners of the main tournaments. But the current exaltation of football players has no precedent at all.

And they will talk about the degradation of the honorary title, for which many lost consciousness at the finish line, went out on the ice with a temperature of 38, and fought on the field with a broken collarbone, because substitutions were prohibited. And then they showered awards even on those who spent fifteen minutes on the field and did not sweat.
Basically, highlighting and ranking sports success in general it is a very delicate matter. For example, the famous football player and bandy player Valery Maslov complained that he was a six-time world champion, but not an Olympic champion (Russian hockey is not included in the Olympic disciplines), and therefore his pension is much less than it could be.
Ranks are also some guarantee for a more or less secure old age. And so many masters did not wait for it. It seems that a national “thank you” is sometimes quite enough. After all, Cherchesov, unlike Alexander Nevsky, has not yet won any battles.
